OD6 – 6.05pm – Bob Brown Memorial (461m) – approx $5,000

LIKA WHISPER (1) did everything that he could last week but he found the star chaser DYNA TRON too quick but his effort to run second to that chaser was top notch. He will take a power of beating in this race tonight. I’M A FENCER (4) is very strong and if he gets a bit of early room to wind up he should have a big say in the finish of this race. He will be near full fitness now so definitely show him plenty of respect. PORTRAIT IGNITES (5) has been running some quick times of late ad her effort when runner up to DYNA BERT last week was top class. She can certainly be winning this race even from the difficult squeeze box. Both PENNY’S ANGEL (2) & INNISFREE MISS (6) some next into the equation, whilst a win may be a bit of a surprise they both need to be shown plenty of respect high up in the placings. Certainly play wide in the back end of the quartet as on paper only MEGASTAR SPARGO (7) appears the only greyhound in the field that may struggle.

The classy POINT TWO OVER (2) is well drawn down here near the fence and if he can muster a bit more early speed he could quite easily prove to be too strong for these. He should get a good passage to the fence with a speedy beginner drawn on his inside. EMMA’S GIFT (1) has been using his early speed to his advantage of late winning his last 2 starts. He has gone 29.96 in the past and if he runs up to that sort of time he will be very hard to rundown. These 2 well drawn greyhounds certainly hold the key to this race. The rest of the field behind them is very open. The wide drawn greyhounds FULL EMBARGO (6), BUCKARINGA LAD (7) & EVACUATION (8) appear to be the most likely to be pushing for the placings in front of those greyhound drawn in the middle boxes.

OD8– 6.48pm – Group 1 Hobart Thousand Final (461m) – approx $5,000
Est pool $40k
Tassie has certainly put on a great final of their time honoured Hobart Thousand this year. The race looks to be a clash between the local track record holder BERGERMEISTER (1) & the Melbourne Cup winner DYNA TRON (2). BERGERMEISTER did not set the time clock on fire last week winning in a time of 26.05 but he did what he had to do and that was win his heat. He has a best time here of 25.71 so if he runs up to that time he could easily take this out for Tasmania. The favourite and hardest to beat however will be DYNA TRON. He continued his fantastic recent form with an effortless heat win in a fast time of 25.78. He has the early speed to dominate this race and lead all of the way. His litter brother DYNA BERT (6) was also very impressive last week winning his heat in 25.85. He will have no trouble handling this wide box draw so he must also be respected as an each way chance. REWIND (7) is another dangerous chaser that went very nicely running 25.78 last week but that effort was from the much better red box. He is very experienced down here so with the right run he could prove to be a knockout winner. The all conquering Graeme Bate kennel is represented by DAVID BALE (8) who had the red box when winning his heat last week. His time of 26.23 was nothing special but from out here he should get room to wind up so definitely respect his place chances. The locals drawn in boxes 3,4 & 5 are all probably going to struggle to win this final but all should be included in the back end of the quartet.

LEELICIOUS (8) has only won 2 races but those 2 wins were here in the times of 29.70 & 29.41. She did it from box 7 last week so with another quick jump the pink box should not worry her tonight. PROVEN IMPALA (1) has not set this track on fire yet but she has been impressive at The Meadows winning her past 2 races in a row there. She has plenty of early speed also so it would not surprise to see her lead all of the way. SET TO TALK (2) is well drawn also and she has a quick 29.49 win to her credit here. She should be able to track well into this race so definitely include her as a value winning chance. HANIFY’S HEROINE (7) is another speedy beginner that could cross these and run a cheeky race on the speed. Whilst perhaps not a winning chance she must be included high up in the placings. The rest of the field is very open so play wide in the back end of the quartet.
