THURSDAY HAPPY HOUR

Tonight sees another Quartet Happy Hour with three jackpots allocated to race at Sandown Park. The Happy Hour kicks off at 6.58pm and finishes at 8.00pm.

MD6 – 6.58pm – Group 1 Sapphire Crown Final (515m) – approx $5,000

Est pool $30k

IT’S A BLUR (8) was very impressive running on from midfield early to win her heat in a time of 29.44 and if she gets a bit of luck from out here then she is more than capable of taking this out. Big pressure will come from the fastest qualifier EL BROOKLYN (6) who led all of the way in her heat in a time of 29.35. If she wins the early speed battle then she will be the hardest to beat. PEGGY MAY (3) will be her main contender challenging her for that early lead. Whilst PEGGY MAY may not have the speed to win this she can certainly be up there early on and hang for a place. The strength in the race will be coming from CAROL ALLEN (4) who will take a sit in behind the speed and if she gets some lucky breaks in running she could prove to be the knockout winner. The rest of the field are very talented also and all can figure in the back end placings however the obvious box draw advantage to DREAM RATTLER (1) & WITCH’S POTION (2) suggests that they will be the most likely to figure.

Quartet selections (listed in order of preference)

Winners: IT’S A BLUR (8) & EL BROOKLYN (6)

Knockout: CAROL ALLEN (4)

Best Place Chance: PEGGY MAY (3)

Place Chances: DREAM RATTLER (1) & WITCH’S POTION (2)

Bet Now On TABozbet

MD7 – 7.28pm – Group 1 Sandown Cup Heat #4 (715m) – approx $5,000

Est pool $40k

The WA champion MIATA (2) has come up with a top box draw and as a result should be able to dominate this race from the outset. Whilst she looked a little flat last time she has been freshened up for this and will have the track record on her radar. LADY GREY (8) has finished runner up 3 times from 4 starts here over this distance and with MIATA in the race a runner up effort will be the best she can aim for tonight. The pink box is not a worry because she has plenty of early speed. The 2 NSW visitors VINTAGE BLEND (5) & HOT BUZZARD (7) are the next best and if they bring their best form across the border than they definitely look to be the most likely to fill the placing in the quartet with LADY GREY. On paper the rest of the field look like they will struggle in this class and at best can be included for 4th in wide quartets only.

Quartet selections (listed in order of preference)

Just Wins: MIATA (2)

Best Place Chances: LADY GREY (8), VINTAGE BLEND (5) & HOT BUZZARD (7)

MD7 – The Best of the “Happy Hour” Jackpots

Skinny Quartet Option

Last week’s collect: $449.00

2 – 5,8 – 5,7,8 –1,3,5,7,8 $60 for 500%

Wide Quartet Option

Last week’s collect: $224.50

2 – 5,7,8 – 5,7,8 – Field $60 for 200%

Bet Now On TABozbet

MD8 – 8.00pm – Group 2 Harrison-Dawson Final (515m) – approx $5,000

Est pool $35k

CAPE HAWKE (3) dominated his heat winning in a time of 29.32 after leading all of the way from this very box draw and despite meeting a collectively stronger field in this he can definitely win this. GENERAL DESTINI (1) had this same box last week when finishing a nice runner up to CAPE HAWKE and he will be looking to turn the tables on that runner tonight. He is a must inclusion for the win from this perfect box draw. LEKTRA JOHNSON (2) returned to his best form last week winning his heat from box 1 and from this top inside box draw he can add some value to the novelties this week. DAVID BALE (6) was in top form last week winning his heat in a time of 29.33 from the pink box and despite drawing awkwardly again in this he is smart enough to mount a big challenge in this. DON’T KNOCKA HIM (7) won the Easter Egg back in April but he had the better red box on that occasion. He can certainly run on his night but from out here he may find this a little tough. Include for a place only. Play wide for 4th and definitely introduce the field.

Quartet selections (listed in order of preference)

Winners: CAPE HAWKE (3) & GENERAL DESTINI (1)

Each Way: LEKTRA JOHNSON (2) & DAVID BALE (6)

Best Place Chance: DON’T KNOCKA HIM (7)

Last week’s collect: $449.00

2 – 5,8 – 5,7,8 –1,3,5,7,8 $60 for 500%

Wide Quartet Option

Last week’s collect: $224.50

2 – 5,7,8 – 5,7,8 – Field $60 for 200%

Last week’s collect: $224.50
