Thursday Happy Hour – 17th November 2011

THURSDAY HAPPY HOUR

Tonight sees another Quartet Happy Hour with three jackpots allocated to races at Sandown Park. The Happy Hour kicks off at 5.58pm and finishes at 6.57pm with the running of the Group 1 Melbourne Cup Final.

MD6 – 5.58pm – Group 1 Bold Trease Final (715m) – approx $5,000

Est pool $40k

BLING IT ON (1) has come up trumps with the box draw and from his 8 exits from the red he has won 6 times and placed second on the other 2 occasions. As a result he is a must to be considered for the win in this tough final. GRANDUER (5) was the quickest qualifier winning his heat in a time of 41.84 but that effort was from box 1. The move out to the squeeze box is not ideal but he is very smart so definitely include him for the win still. ECHELON (3) has won his last 2 on end here both in solid times and with his good mustering speed he should be prominent early on. He is another one of the main winning chances in this open final. SLICK LEE (6) has a great record here over this trip. From his 11 starts he has finished in the top 3 in 10 of them. He has to be included as a place chance on the back of that record. Both ZIPPING MALFOY (4) & ZIPPING LAD (7) have good early speed that could see them race in the forward division of this race. They will have their work cut out for them to win but they should be respected for a placing in the back end of the quartet.

Quartet selections (listed in order of preference)

Winners: BLING IT ON (1), GRANDUER (5) & ECHELON (3)

Each Way: REWIND (7)

Best Place Chance: SLICK LEE (6)

Place Chances: ZIPPING MALFOY (4) & ZIPPING LAD (7)

MD7– 6.28pm – Cup Night Sprint (515m) – approx $5,000

Est pool $40k

DYNA BERT (1) has the box draw to be very hard to beat in this. He finished 1 length behind BEKIM BALE in a time of 29.34 last week and if he runs up to that sort of time in this he will be very hard to rundown. RADLEY BALE (6) has been on fire over the past few weeks and despite drawing a bit difficultly tonight he will be finishing this race off powerfully and should be up there in the finish. REWIND (7) is another runner that will need a bit of luck from the wide box draw but so far from his 6 starts here he is yet to miss the money so he should be respected. DAVID BALE (2) is a very strong chaser that will appreciate the inside box draw. He placed in 29.40 last week and with clear running he could run over the top of these. AMAKLER GIRL (8) has plenty of early speed and from this box she could easily cross this field. The only question mark will be her strength and at this stage a placing looks to be her best result.

Quartet selections (listed in order of preference)

Winners: DYNA BERT (1) & RADLEY BALE (6)

Each Way: REWIND (7)

Knockout Chance: DAVID BALE (2)

Best Place Chance: AMAKLER GIRL (8)

MD8– 6.57pm – Group 1 Melbourne Cup Final (515m) – approx $8,000

Est pool $50k

Box draws are so important in these big races and the $200,000 to the winner Melbourne Cup does not come any bigger. SHEREEN BALE (1) has drawn the converted red box and judging by her effort last week when leading throughout in a time of 29.37 she will have a massive chance of winning this. The fastest greyhound in the field is BEKIM BALE (4) who holds the track record here of an amazing 28.96. He may need a bit of luck in the early stages but if he gets it the others had better watch out. With so much early speed in this final if the speedsters all get in each other’s way there is one greyhound that will be looking to take advantage of this. That greyhound is NUMERO UNO BALE (2) who is very much suited by the rails draw. He is super strong when it matters so definitely find room for him for a place at least. Both ALLEN ELROY (6) & DYNA TRON (7) have good early speed out of the boxes but both face a big task to lead these clearly. Obviously if either of these 2 quality greyhounds were able to do so then they could easily lead this all of the way but luck will have to be on their side. The only non Wheeler owned greyhound in the field is ENRY WALT (3). He loves racing here but he will feel that he has the weight of the world on his shoulders in this. Whilst he is better suited out wide he should not be forgotten in this especially for a place. Both BALA BALE (5) & DYNA MORRIS (8) will have their work cut out for them from their respective box draws and on paper it would be surprising to see them having any real influence in this final.

Quartet selections (listed in order of preference)

Winners: SHEREEN BALE (1) & BEKIM BALE (4)

Each Way: NUMERO UNO BALE (2)

Knockout Chances: ALLEN ELROY (6) & DYNA TRON (7)

Best Place Chance: ENRY WALT (3)

Remote Place Chances: BALA BALE (5) & DYNA MORRIS (8)

Thursday Happy Hour – 10th November 2011

THURSDAY HAPPY HOUR

Thursday night sees another Quartet Happy Hour with four jackpots allocated to races at Sandown Park. The Happy Hour kicks off at 5.52pm and finishes at 6.55pm.

MD6 – 5.52pm – Melbourne Cup Heat #5 (515m) – approx $5,000

Est pool $35k

We kick off the happy hour with a top Melbourne Cup heat that sees the 2 inform greyhounds MEPUNGA NICKY (3) & BEKIM BALE (8) go head to head. MEPUNGA NICKY has been on fire winning the Group 3 SA Oaks, Group 1 Adelaide Cup and placing second in the Group 1 Vic Peters final at her most recent starts. She gets out quick and if she lands on the bunny she will be very hard to rundown. BEKIM BALE loved the 4 dog field in the shootout last week winning in a quick time of 29.13. He will need a bit of luck from this wide box draw but if he gets clear running he could be too powerful for these on the run home. These 2 greyhounds standout in what is a very classy heat. DYNA BERT (2) is well drawn in this box and he could easily get the run of the race behind the favourites, definitely find a spot for him high up in the placings. Both NO JUSTICE (5) & AUTOAMERICAN (7) have come up with poor box draws but they are both strong finishes and could easily sneak into the back end of the quartet at each way odds. Include the field for 4th as they are all capable of featuring in that position.

Quartet selections (listed in order of preference)

Winner: MEPUNGA NICKY (3) & BEKIM BALE (8)

Best Place Chances: DYNA BERT (2), NO JUSTICE (5) & AUTOAMERICAN (7)

MD7– 6.11pm – Melbourne Cup Heat #6 (515m) – approx $5,000

Est pool $35k

CAPE HAWKE (8) ran a nice race in the shootout last week and after leading early on he was eventually overwhelmed by BEKIM BALE & RADLEY BALE. He will again be looking to lead in this and if he does he may just find this an easier race to hang on in. HESTON BALE (5) is a youngster that has a 29.14 run under his belt here. He will obviously need some luck in this from the box draw but with a better beginning he could easily take this out. ENRY WALT (3) has been struggling a bit of late but he is a classy greyhound and should not be underestimated in a race like this. AMAKLER GIRL (2) has plenty of early speed and could find herself leading these. She may not have the strength to finish the job off must she can certainly figure prominently in the back end of the placings. Consider using her as an anchor greyhound. Again play wide in the back end to cover all bases in this top quality heat.

RADLEY BALE (4) ran a nice race last week in the shootout finishing second to BEKIM BALE. He will race in the forward division of this race and will prove to be the hardest to beat. BLACK HOMBRE (2) will be just in behind the early speed and last week he ran a nice second placing in a slick 29.46. He is a great each way chance in this. The classy OAKS ROAD (8) had his first start here last week from this same box draw and received no luck whatsoever; if his luck changes this week then he can certainly push the likes of these. NUMERO UNO BALE (7) is a super strong finisher and if he is anywhere near them out on the back straight then he is more than capable of finishing on over the top of them. Definitely include him for the win in wide quartets. FLASH DRIVE (1) will be flashy early on and will more than likely be leading this race. His strength is the big worry but he could hang on for a spot in the back end of the quartet.

Quartet selections (listed in order of preference)

Winner: RADLEY BALE (4)

Each Way: BLACK HOMBRE (2), NUMERO UNO BALE (7) & OAKS ROAD (8)

MD9– 6.55pm – Bold Trease Cup Heat #2 (715m) – approx $5,000

BOBBY BOUCHEAU (3) ran a nice second place at his return to racing in the Sir John Dillon Memorial and with his top record here he looks set to be the hardest to beat in this. GRANDUER (1) is well boxed in the red and despite having not won here over this journey yet he does look to be a genuine threat to BOBBY. BLING IT ON (2) was on fire over this trip in October winning 3 in a row over it and despite not quite being up to the class of the above 2 mentioned greyhounds winning form is good form so show him plenty of respect. These 3 greyhounds on paper seem to have a mortgage on the race so skinny players will certainly be able to play them up front safely. Wider players will certainly want to introduce the field for 3rd & 4th and hope for some roughies to find their way into the back end placings.

Thursday Happy Hour – 3rd November 2011

THURSDAY HAPPY HOUR

Tonight sees another Quartet Happy Hour with four jackpots allocated to races at Sandown Park, Hobart & Angle Park. The Happy Hour kicks off at 5.52pm and finishes at 6.41pm.

MD6 – 5.52pm – Melbourne Cup Prelude #16 (515m) – approx $5,000

Est pool $35k

The up & coming HESTON BALE (3) has a PB time of 29.14 here and despite his inexperience he has to be considered as the main winning chance in this. OAKS ROAD (8) ran a solid 4th in the Topgun Final and last week he trialled in quick 29.37 here. He can tend to be a bit of a bridesmaid but he must also be respected as one of the main winning chances. MEPUNGA GOERDIE (1) is very speedy on his night and from this draw he is a perfect 2 from 2. If he runs up to his PB of 29.59 then he will definitely be up there in the finish. These 3 look to be the main players for the front of the quartet. Play PROVEN MAYHEM (2), COOLAN MISS (6) & SLEEP WALK (7) as the main place chances in the back end.

Quartet selections (listed in order of preference)

Winner: HESTON BALE (3) & OAKS ROAD (8)

OD6 – 6.05pm – Wally Lake Memorial (461m) – approx $5,000

Est pool $35k

DAMEK (4) is back at the track that he dominates at and there is nothing to suggest that he won’t bring up win number 19 at his 22nd start here at Hobart. Play him up front for the win only. Both WHISPERING BLAZE (1) & INNISFREE MISS (2) look to be very well boxed and are the most likely to run placings behind the champ. Beyond these 2 WHERE’S MAGPIE (5) & PEENY’S ANGEL (7) appear to be the next best but obviously they will need some luck from their difficult box draws.

Quartet selections (listed in order of preference)

Winner: DAMEK (4)

MD8 – 6.35pm – Group 3 Shootout (515m) – approx $1,600

Est pool $15k

This year’s shootout is a very interesting affair with 4 speedy greyhounds heading to the boxes where the first to the post will more than likely be the ultimate winner of the race. The track record holder BEKIM BALE (5) has only raced 7 times but if he can get to that lead or sit a very close second then he has the obvious speed to win this. His 28.96 record could be in danger from himself tonight. RADLEY BALE (1) has won 8 from 11 starts from this box and he is the sort of greyhound that will keep finding if he does hold them out on the first corner. Don’t be surprised if he uses all of his experience to hold off his young up start rivals. CAPE HAWKE (3) has run back to back times of 29.13 & 29.20 here so he is quick enough to win this but he is probably the slowest out which is a big concern in this race. ALLEN HARPER (7) is fresh of a dominant Topgun victory but he is going to have his work cut out for him to make it back to back Group race victories at his first run at this track from this wide box draw.

Quartet selections (listed in order of preference)

Winners: BEKIM BALE (5) & RADLEY BALE (1)

Each Way: CAPE HAWKE (3) & ALLEN HARPER (7)

AD8 – 6.41pm – FFA (515m) – approx $5,000

Est pool $35k

The box draw has come up trumps for POINT TWO OVER (1). He has raced out of this box 7 times for 4 wins and 2 placings and 3 starts back he won from this very box in a slick time of 29.67. He does look to be the hardest to beat in this. The classy pair of RANDOM TEST (4) & WHERE’S PANCHO (5) are both used to running in this FTA class of racing and as a result appear to be the most likely greyhounds that could cause an upset. However with the box draw the way it is they are more likely to run a placing behind the one dog. Beyond these 3 main players the rest of the field is rather open so it would be wise to play as wide as possible behind them.

Quartet selections (listed in order of preference)

Winner: POINT TWO OVER (1)

Thursday Happy Hour – 27th October 2011

THURSDAY HAPPY HOUR

Thursday night sees another Quartet Happy Hour with three jackpots allocated to races at Sandown Park & Hobart. The Happy Hour kicks off at 5.52pm and finishes at 6.35pm.

MD6 – 5.52pm – Mixed 3/4 (595m) – approx $5,000

Est pool $30k

KIALDU ANNA (1) has come up with the box draw advantage on her rivals that will most probably see her start as favourite. She led all of the way from this box last week in good time so it would not surprise if lightning strikes twice. Big pressure will come from BARRIQUE (2) who is well drawn near the rail and so far he is a perfect 2 from 2 over this trip. If he can track the early leaders he will definitely be snapping at their heels on the run home. SLEEP WALK (4) has plenty of early speed and he could easily cross the inside division and give them something to chase. He has won 2 in a row over this trip but his times are not quite as quick as the other fancies. Winning form is obviously good form but perhaps a place will be his most likely result tonight. GRANDUER (7) is not suitably drawn out here but he does have the quickest PB of the field and if he gets a bit of luck and runs up to that 34.06 run then he could prove to be difficult to beat. The rest of the field are very even and are all more than capable of registering a back end placing so play as wide as possible for 3rd and 4th.

MOJITO (8) was a beaten favourite from this draw last week in a very similar field but he still should be stuck with again this week. Play him for the win mostly but have some cover just in case he finishes second again. The greyhound that beat him was INNISFREE MISS (3). She has been competing very well in this Invitation class and has caused 2 upsets in recent weeks so she has to be kept safe as an each way chance again. BIT REGAL (7) ran another top placing last week from this very box draw and it could be a case of history repeating so consider using him as an anchor for a place. LIKA WHISPER (5) has won his last 3 starts with 2 of them being here both in quick times. He is up in grade and has a difficult box to contend with but he should be kept safe as a value winning chance. Beyond these the field is very even so it would be wise to play wide for 3rd & 4th.

The box draw will be vitally important in this race and the speedy MISS ROMAN NOSE (1) has come up trumps with the red. She will need to run up to her best in this company but if she can lead easily then she will have every chance to do so. DON CHENDO (2) disappointed last week but the week prior he was a smart FTA winner in a time of 29.55. It may pay to forgive his run last week and include him for the win in this. NUMERO UNO BALE (4) will be flying home late at the business end of the race. He looks to be a great anchor suggestion. DINO FERRARI (3) is a dangerous greyhound and from this good inside draw he is more than capable of getting up in this at each way odds. These inside 4 greyhounds appear to be the most likely with perhaps the pink runner ZERO’S HERO (8) standing out in front of the rest but it would still be a wise option play wide in the back end of the quartet with the field.

Quartet selections (listed in order of preference)

Winner: MISS ROMAN NOSE (1) & DON CHENDO (2)

Thursday Happy Hour – 20th October 2011

THURSDAY HAPPY HOUR

Tonight sees another Quartet Happy Hour with three jackpots allocated to races at Sandown Park, & Hobart. The Happy Hour kicks off earlier now due to the start of daylight savings with the first jackpot scheduled at 5.52pm and the last at 6.35pm. Make sure you do not miss all of the action.

MD6 – 5.52pm – Melbourne Cup Prelude #11 (515m) – approx $5,000

Est pool $35k

DON CHENDO (1) won the FTA race last week in fine style from the squeeze box and now that he has drawn much better in the red he has to be fancied to make it back to back victories in this. Plenty of pressure will be coming from NUMERO UNO BALE (2) who ran home powerfully last Saturday at The Meadows to beat the talented BEKIM BALE. From this good inside draw he has undeniable each way claims. HESTON BALE (8) is a boom youngster that has a 29.14 run under his belt here, obviously if he runs up to that time he will be almost impossible to beat but he will have his work cut out for him from out here in the pink against these. FANCY DEAN (3) arrives from NSW with plenty of credentials. He will need to find the bunny early on in this considering it is his first look at the track. Keep him safe as he could easily play a part in the finish. These 4 chasers are the main players with perhaps LAUNCHINATOR (6) & DAINTREE ROCKET (7) the next best so consider these 2 for a position in the back end of the quartet.

Quartet selections (listed in order of preference)

Winners: DON CHENDO (1) & HESTON BALE (8)

Each Way: NUMERO UNO BALE (2)

Knockout: FANCY DEAN (3)

OD6 – 6.25pm – Invitation (461m) – approx $5,000

MOJITO (8) will enjoy not having DAMEK in this race and as a result will be well fancied to win. 2 and 3 weeks back he comfortably won similar races to this and from out here he will have plenty of time to wind up and cross to the early lead. DECEMBRIST (6) has had a month off but prior to that he had won 3 races in a row up at Launceston. He has a good record here and if the favourite falters he could be the one to take advantage. BIT REGAL (7) has been running plenty of placings in these invitation style races and there is no reason to suggest that this trend cannot continue so definitely include him for 2nd & 3rd. Also INNISFREE MISS (5) & REGENT TYPHOON (3) are both the sorts of greyhounds that could easily land a spot in the back end of the quartet so include these runners accordingly.

Quartet selections (listed in order of preference)

BOBBY BOUCHEAU (8) is resuming from a 2 month spell but he has drawn his favourite box so he has to be considered strongly for the win in this. BLING IT ON (3) is in form winning his last 2 races and from this box draw he should be able to land in a prominent position. Include him as a great each way hope. GRANDUER (2) has run placings behind BLING IT ON of late and from this good inside box draw he looks to be a great place anchor option for those that play their quartets in that fashion. ZIPPING LAD (5) is a classy NSW stayer that has the visitor’s box to contend with. If he runs up to his best form then he could easily take this out. PILLOW TORQUE (7) is capable of throwing her weight around in this race also, whilst a win would surprise she could easily lob into the placings.

THURSDAY HAPPY HOUR

Tonight sees another Quartet Happy Hour with four jackpots allocated to races at Hobart, Sandown Park, Angle Park & Albion Park. The Happy Hour kicks off earlier now due to the start of daylight savings with the first jackpot scheduled at 6.05pm and the last at 7.11pm. Make sure you do not miss all of the action.

OD6 – 6.05pm – Invitation (461m) – approx $5,000

Est pool $30k

The DAMEK (7) train rolls back into town tonight and after resuming with a win at Devonport he looks set to dominate this as he tends to always do. Obviously MOJITO (2) will be his main danger as that chaser in flying at the moment but he is the champ and will not give up his crown easily. INNISFREE MISS (5) was impressive again finishing runner up behind MOJITO last week and she looks to be one of the main chances to run a place in this. Behind these 3 main chances perhaps REGENT TYPHOON (3) & LEAROYD LAHRS (8) appear to be the best hopes to land a spot in the back end of the quartet.

SMOKE HOME (4) has been chasing in fine form for some time now and with his early speed out of the boxes he should find himself in this race for a long time. He is a special to finish somewhere in the top 3. MISS ROMAN NOSE (7) is another speedy beginner that has the potential to lead this race or at least land in a forward position. This is not an overly strong field so those greyhounds that race on the speed will hold the key to the finish. NO JUSTICE (8) is the one greyhound that has the ability to run down the leaders but he is going to need to have plenty of luck from this tough pink box draw. CROSSFARNOGUE (1) is very experienced here and from this box draw he will certainly have a big chance of landing a placing in the back end of the quartet. This field is very open so an upset would not surprise and it will pay to play as wide as possible and introduce the field for 3rd & 4th.

With pretty much all of the heat winners leading all of the way last week the race to the first corner will be where the race in won. The box draw advantage suits the classy RADLEY BALE (2) as he could be the one that gets the best run into the first corner. He went 29.50 last week and with the experience of that run under his belt he is likely to go even quicker tonight. MEPUNGA NICKY (8) continued her love affair with this track last week leading all of the way in a time of 29.55, she will be looking to bring up another group win here after defeating MIATA in the SA Oaks final 4 weeks back. CAPE HAWKE (7) is a greyhound on the rise and if he can get a bit of luck from this tricky box draw than he is more than capable of winning this. He ran the quickest of the heats last week and if he repeats that 29.33 run then he could prove to be hard to beat. Both ALLEN HERTZ (5) & ALLEN HARPER (6) are no slouches but both are going to have to have a bit of racing luck from their box draws. Either way they need to be kept very safe in this.

GLEN GALLON (2) was very impressive at his first run for over a month last week and from this better box draw tonight he can definitely turn the tables on PRINCE DIABLO (7) He has won 7 out of 10 here so it would not be wise to include him for the win. PRINCE DIABLO will not find it as easy to cross this field tonight and the worry for him is that he may get posted wide on the first corner. If he can avoid trouble then of course he can win this but don’t put all of your eggs in one basket with him. HE KNOWS UNO (1) is a strong greyhound and he will get a great run from this perfect box draw. He is certainly the main danger to the 2 above mentioned greyhounds. BOGIE KING (3) loves this track and his record of 19 starts here for 11 wins & 5 placings clearly illustrates this. He must be considered in wide quartets as a knockout winning chance in this. These 4 greyhounds appear to be the most likely to figure prominently in this but overall the field is very strong and playing the field for 3rd & 4th is advised in a flexi bet option.

Thursday Happy Hour – 6th October 2011

THURSDAY HAPPY HOUR

Tonight sees another Quartet Happy Hour with four jackpots allocated to races at Angle Park, Hobart, Sandown Park & Albion Park. The Happy Hour kicks off earlier now due to the start of daylight savings with the first jackpot scheduled at 5.58pm and the last at 6.52pm. Make sure you do not miss all of the action.

AD6 – 5.58pm – Adelaide Cup Heat #4 (515m) – approx $5,000

Est pool $30k

The champion chaser RADLEY BALE (3) has won impressively at his last 2 starts leading all the way in some quick times including a slick 29.20 Sandown win. He has not raced here before but he is a chasing professional and with a quick jump he will be very hard to rundown. DINO FERRARI (2) will look to rail up underneath the favourite and he has the advantage of trialling on the track last week. He is capable of finishing his races off strongly so it would be wise to keep him safe in the market. The best of the local hopes in this heat is POINT TWO OVER (8). He performs well from this draw and if the inside division crowds up then he could be the one that swoops on them from out wide but he will need plenty to go right for him if that is to happen. Perhaps include ALLEN LAWSON (6) & PUSH THE PAINT (5) in the back end of the quartet as both are more than capable of filling a placing.

Quartet selections (listed in order of preference)

Winner: RADLEY BALE (3)

Each Way: DINO FERRARI (2)

Best Place Chance: POINT TWO OVER (8)

Place Chances: ALLEN LAWSON (6) & PUSH THE PAINT (5)

OD6 – 6.25pm – Invitation (461m) – approx $5,000

Est pool $35k

MOJITO (2) has adjusted to Tasmanian racing very well with his 3 races starts here netting 2 wins with both of them coming in slick times. He is well drawn and will have every chance to lead this race all of the way. INNISFREE MISS (3) upset a similar line-up at good each way odds 3 weeks back so value players will want to include her as a potential knockout greyhound again from this good box draw. The veteran pair of FISHERMAN (1) & REGENT TYPHOON (6) must also be considered as solid place hopes as both are suited by their box draws. With the right runs they could also spring a surprise and get up for a win.

Quartet selections (listed in order of preference)

Winner: MOJITO (2)

The speedy beginner MYSTIC APPLE (1) is well drawn down here in the red and if he backs up his slick 29.23 win of 2 weeks back then he should prove to be almost impossible to beat. Bad luck appears to be his biggest danger. DISRAELI (2) is a strong greyhound that should be able to get a top sit in behind the red runner. Whilst it is unlikely that he will win this he does look to be a great option to use as an anchor. Both SIMPLY CHARLIE (3) & GAELIC BALE (5) have good early speed and both should be able to find themselves in good positions early on in this. Definitely keep them both safe for the placings. COME ON LUANN (4) is capable on her night and she will be finishing this race off powerfully when it matters. Try and find room for her in the back end of the quartet also.

BD7 – 6.52pm – Gold Coast Cup Heat #4 (520m) – approx $5,000

PRINCE DIABLO (8) caused quite allot of noise when he won a heat of the Paws Of Thunder in a very slick 29.56 but at his 2 runs since that performance he has struggled finishing 6th & 5th both in quartet jackpot races. Punters will have to again include him for the win but don’t put all of your eggs in the one basket considering he is having his first start here. The main local chance in this is GLEN GALLON (5) who won the QLD National Sprint Final. He has won 8 of 12 on the track and despite drawing a tough box he has the local knowledge and will be very hard to beat. The greyhound drawn in the red ISADEL (1) is a bit of a city or the bush greyhound. From her 20 starts on the track she has 11 wins to her name and zero placings. It could be a case of including her for the win and nothing else. Consider playing both NOIR WARRIOR (4) & HONEY LASS (6) safe for the placings also.

Quartet selections (listed in order of preference)

Winners: PRINCE DIABLO (8) & GLEN GALLON (5)

Thursday Happy Hour – 29th September 2011

THURSDAY HAPPY HOUR

Tonight night sees another Quartet Happy Hour with three jackpots allocated to races at Hobart, Angle Park & Sandown Park. The Happy Hour kicks off at 7.25pm and finishes at 7.55pm.

OD7 – 7.25pm – ST. Leger Final (461m) – approx $5,000

Est pool $30k

The box draw is ultra important in a race like this and PUDZIANOWSKI (1) has come up trumps with the red. Whilst his colours were lowered last week in his heat by LIKA WHISPER his prior form here was fantastic having won 5 of his previous 7 starts with his PB time being 25.91. He does look to be the hardest to beat in this. Obviously LIKA WHISPER (7) needs to be respected again after his top heat win from box 8 last week. He is a must inclusion for the win in quartets to cover both inside outside options. WANDY NEG (4) is the other greyhound that has plenty of claims in this. He has had 2 starts at the track for 2 wins both in good times. Keep him safe and if possible find room for him on the win column also. The best place chances behind these 3 greyhounds appear to be PENDLE BERI (2) & ROB PINES (3) who both should be able to take advantage of their inside box draws.

WHERE’S PANCHO (7) was runner up in last week’s prelude behind POINT TWO OVER and he will be looking to go one better tonight. He has the necessary early speed to cross these so with an even jump he should be in the finish. RANDOM TEST (6) would prefer to be drawn closer to the fence but he is a classy animal and should not be left out of calculations, however he will require some luck early. STOVE ROCKS (1) is very powerful but he likes to have plenty of room to wind up. He may feel the squeeze down here in the red box so play him for a place only tonight. BAD BOY PEDRO (5) has been in great form winning 5 of his last 8 starts and he also has the early speed to offset this tricky box draw. Play him in wider quartets as a knockout winning chance also. These 4 greyhounds are the standouts and should figure prominently in this. Only include the field for 4th in wider bets.

BLACK DODGE (8) loves a wide draw and he cannot get one any wider tonight. Back in August he won back to back races from boxes 8 & 7 in times of 29.68 & 29.70. If he can find that sort of form tonight he will be very hard to beat in this. LEKTRA JAY (1) has not been in the best of form of late but he has managed to run back to back placings at his last 2 starts here. He loves this box and perhaps tonight could be his night to breakthrough finally. NUMERO UNO BALE (5) is always a dangerous runner and must be respected in a race like this. He ran a top placing last week also and with a bit of luck in transit he could easily run over the top of these. LEKTRA EXPRESS (6) is another greyhound that has not won for awhile but he also was smartly placed here last week and if he can find an unchallenged lead in this he can certainly push these and give them something to chase. These 4 greyhounds are the class of the field and beyond them it is an open race with perhaps only TIJUANA (7) slightly standing out above the rest but it would be wise to play wide in the back end of the quartet regardless.

Thursday Happy Hour – 22nd September 2011

THURSDAY HAPPY HOUR

Tonight night sees another Quartet Happy Hour with three jackpots allocated to races at Sandown Park & Angle Park. The Happy Hour kicks off at 6.52pm and finishes at 7.35pm.

MD6 – 6.52pm – Melbourne Cup Prelude  #2 (515m) – approx $5,000

Est pool $35k

SELECT NAN (3) has been pinging out of the lids of late and despite being up in grade she will have a big chance in this especially if she jumps like she has been. Last week from box one she stopped the clock at a quick 29.49. The classy RADLEY BALE (8) can never be left out of the calculations of whatever race he contests. Whilst he is not going as well as he has in the past he should get plenty of room out there to wind up and be very dangerous. ICEMAN RAIKKONEN (2) has been in consistent form of late and from this top inside box draw he does look to be a great option to use as an anchor in the front end of the quartet. He has placed at his last 2 here over the 595m trip so he should be strong at the business end of the race. These three greyhounds appear to be the most likely to figure prominently in the finish of this with the rest of the field rather even, so play as wide as possible behind them.

RANDOM TEST (8) could not have been more impressive winning here in a time of 29.73 last week and despite moving out to the pink box he is one smart greyhound and can certainly win again tonight. Plenty of pressure will come from WHERE’S CISCO (5) who is looking for his 4th win in a row tonight. The squeeze box will not make it easy for him but he does have the necessary early speed to overcome it. POINT TWO OVER (3) is always a dangerous runner but he will have to begin quicker than he has done over the past 2 weeks. Prior to that he had won the SA Sprint championship so he must be respected in this from this good inside box draw. WHERE’S PANCHO (2) is a very handy performer on his night that loves an inside box draw. From this box he is a perfect 5 from 5 so with those stats behind him he has to be considered for the win in this also. PINTS DELIGHT (1) is up in grade tonight but he is another greyhound with a terrific record from the box that he has drawn tonight. So far he is a perfect 4 from 4 from the cherry but tonight perhaps a placing will be a good result against these.

CAPE HAWKE (2) brought up his 5th win in a row last week and in the process set a new track record time of 29.13. That is a super time and if he runs anywhere near that time tonight he should win this race with ease. SMOKE HOME (6) has good early speed and last week he was able to cross over from the squeeze box to win the FTA race. He will be one of the main players in this if the favourite does things wrong. DON CHENDO (5) was only narrowly beaten by SMOKE HOME last week so on that form line he must be considered as one of the main place chances in this. DAVID BALE (3) is strong and has been chasing in fine form. He has had the one race here for the one win in a time of 29.66 so it would also be wise to keep him safe in your quartets. Another greyhound that must be considered for a place is UP AND AWAY (1) who is speedy early and loves an inside draw. Definitely include her for a place in the back end of the quartet.

Thursday Happy Hour – 15th September 2011

THURSDAY HAPPY HOUR

Tonight sees another Quartet Happy Hour with four jackpots allocated to races at Albion Park, Sandown Park, Hobart and Angle Park. This Happy Hour kicks off at 6.44pm and finishes at 7.41pm

BD7 – 6.44pm – Mixed 4/5 (710m) – approx $5,000
Est pool $30k

The first jackpot of the night comes from Albion Park over 710m. COCKY FLOYD (5) has been scratched this morning which has thrown the race wide open with most expecting it to take this out. TANGO TAPPER (4) now looks a major player in the race after running 3rd last start over this distance. BLACK CAT MOAN is another who should be kept safe and could win here with average luck. SIENNA BREEZE (1) should be included as one of the major chances after running a good 2nd last start. ANOTHER ABILITY (8) should also be strongly considered as a good place chance and with any luck could be right in this at the finish. Playing the field for 4th is highly recommended.

Bet now on TABozbet

MD6 – 6.52pm – Grade 5 FINAL (595m) – approx $5,000
Est pool $30k

Race 6 sees a very competitive final over 595m at Sandown Park. MANY TALENTS (8) was very impressive last week leading all the way from the 8 and she has drawn perfectly again to repeat the performance. She does her best work from out wide and seeing her winning this final would not surprise. ICEMAN RAIKKONEN (5) led for most of his heat last week before being pipped at the line by BLACK NITRO (7). With the early speed ICEMAN RAIKKONEN (5) should be in the race right until the end and if the favourite MANY TALENTS (8) finds any trouble in transit, it could go one better this week. BLACK NITRO (7) managed to win his heat last week, but has been dealt a blow with the box draw and has been shown so far to do his best from the inside. However with luck he should still be in this race at the end. AUTOAMERICAN (3) was doing his best work at the end last week and if he is able to get forward early he has the talent to cause these some trouble. PREMIER BOLONEY (4) overcame trouble last start to win his heat and should be respected in quartets.

Bet now on TABozbet

OD5 – 7.05pm – Noel Vince Memorial (461m) – approx $5,000
Est pool $30k

Race 5 at Elwick sees the running of the NOEL VINCE MEMORIAL over 461m. SULTAN’S SWING has been scratched from the race this morning. INNISFREE MISS (1) got the better of SULTAN’S SWING last week and will be hoping to continue on with that form. She is racing in good form and has been in the placings at her last 5 starts including running second at Devonport on Tuesday and should be the one to beat. REGENT TYPHOON (5) is another likely type who has been racing in very good form recently and with average luck could really give this a shake. LORINGO (8) is another talented greyhound who stepped up to invitational class last start and had no luck. He has the talent to really push the favourites and should not be discounted. SAMCHA (3) is hard to find on his night, but can always pop up and surprise at long odds. Playing the field for 4th looks a good option in the third of tonight’s jackpots.

Bet now on TABozbet

AD8 – 7.41pm – Group 3 SA Oaks FINAL (515m) – approx $5,000
Est pool $35k

The final jackpot in the Happy Hour comes to us from Angle Park and sees the local sensation MIATA (8) going for 8 in a row in the Group 3 SA Oaks Final. MIATA will no doubt jump as the favourite in this final and was quoted as $2.00 favourite in the early Player fixed odds market. If MIATA can handle the boxes better than in her heat run, then there is no doubt she is the quickest greyhound in the race and should salute the judge. The box draw shouldn’t hurt her with a quick beginner on her inside in JESSENIA BALE (7) who should help to cart her into the race. Should MIATA get into trouble, MEPUNGA NICKY (3) who qualified quickest last week in the heats looks to be the main danger. She should lead the field and may prove hard to hold out if given too many lengths early. JESSENIA BALE (7) has been racing in good form in Adelaide, winning at her last three and should be one of the first to be included in quartets. The Graeme Bate-trained IRMA BALE (2) rates as an each way hope and should also be kept safe. Those four greyhounds mentioned look the most likely prospects with the Troy Iwanyk-trained IT’S A BLUR (4) next best.
