THURSDAY HAPPY HOUR

MD6 – 5.58pm – Group 1 Bold Trease Final (715m) – approx $5,000
Est pool $40k
BLING IT ON (1) has come up trumps with the box draw and from his 8 exits from the red he has won 6 times and placed second on the other 2 occasions. As a result he is a must to be considered for the win in this tough final. GRANDUER (5) was the quickest qualifier winning his heat in a time of 41.84 but that effort was from box 1. The move out to the squeeze box is not ideal but he is very smart so definitely include him for the win still. ECHELON (3) has won his last 2 on end here both in solid times and with his good mustering speed he should be prominent early on. He is another one of the main winning chances in this open final. SLICK LEE (6) has a great record here over this trip. From his 11 starts he has finished in the top 3 in 10 of them. He has to be included as a place chance on the back of that record. Both ZIPPING MALFOY (4) & ZIPPING LAD (7) have good early speed that could see them race in the forward division of this race. They will have their work cut out for them to win but they should be respected for a placing in the back end of the quartet.
Quartet selections (listed in order of preference)
Winners: BLING IT ON (1), GRANDUER (5) & ECHELON (3)
Each Way: REWIND (7)
Best Place Chance: SLICK LEE (6)

MD7– 6.28pm – Cup Night Sprint (515m) – approx $5,000
Est pool $40k
DYNA BERT (1) has the box draw to be very hard to beat in this. He finished 1 length behind BEKIM BALE in a time of 29.34 last week and if he runs up to that sort of time in this he will be very hard to rundown. RADLEY BALE (6) has been on fire over the past few weeks and despite drawing a bit difficultly tonight he will be finishing this race off powerfully and should be up there in the finish. REWIND (7) is another runner that will need a bit of luck from the wide box draw but so far from his 6 starts here he is yet to miss the money so he should be respected. DAVID BALE (2) is a very strong chaser that will appreciate the inside box draw. He placed in 29.40 last week and with clear running he could run over the top of these. AMAKLER GIRL (8) has plenty of early speed and from this box she could easily cross this field. The only question mark will be her strength and at this stage a placing looks to be her best result.
Quartet selections (listed in order of preference)
Winners: DYNA BERT (1) & RADLEY BALE (6)
Each Way: REWIND (7)
Knockout Chance: DAVID BALE (2)
Best Place Chance: AMAKLER GIRL (8)
MD8– 6.57pm – Group 1 Melbourne Cup Final (515m) – approx $8,000
Est pool $50k
Box draws are so important in these big races and the $200,000 to the winner Melbourne Cup does not come any bigger. SHEREEN BALE (1) has drawn the converted red box and judging by her effort last week when leading throughout in a time of 29.37 she will have a massive chance of winning this. The fastest greyhound in the field is BEKIM BALE (4) who holds the track record here of an amazing 28.96. He may need a bit of luck in the early stages but if he gets it the others had better watch out. With so much early speed in this final if the speedsters all get in each other’s way there is one greyhound that will be looking to take advantage of this. That greyhound is NUMERO UNO BALE (2) who is very much suited by the rails draw. He is super strong when it matters so definitely find room for him for a place at least. Both ALLEN ELROY (6) & DYNA TRON (7) have good early speed out of the boxes but both face a big task to lead these clearly. Obviously if either of these 2 quality greyhounds were able to do so then they could easily lead this all of the way but luck will have to be on their side. The only non Wheeler owned greyhound in the field is ENRY WALT (3). He loves racing here but he will feel that he has the weight of the world on his shoulders in this. Whilst he is better suited out wide he should not be forgotten in this especially for a place. Both BALA BALE (5) & DYNA MORRIS (8) will have their work cut out for them from their respective box draws and on paper it would be surprising to see them having any real influence in this final.
